As we saw on Friday very wet weather at this weekend’s 2011 Turkish Grand Prix caused havoc for drivers during practice, with even reigning champion and current points leader Sebastian Vettel suffering a crash. Fortunately for the drivers the skies managed to clear up for Saturday’s qualifying stage and this saw a return to form for Vettel who managed to set the fastest time of 1 minute 25.049 seconds.

Sitting beside him on the grid for today’s race will be Red Bull Racing teammate Mark Webber, who posted the second fastest qualifying time of 1 minute 25.454 seconds. Rounding out the trio is Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg with his 1 minute 25.574 seconds fastest lap time.

The weather at Istanbul Park Circuit is currently a cool 59 degrees, though some cloud scatter may see some humidity return by the time the race action starts.

With decent weather and the two RBR cars at the front of the grid, championship leader Sebastian Vettel looks destined to increase his points gap. Going into today’s race, Vettel leads the points table with 68 points, followed by Lewis Hamilton on 47 and Jenson Button on 38.

Stay tuned for our full race recap on Monday.
